Keith Hockley gains an Inspiration East Award 2006

Keith Hockley is a man who has been directly credited with being the inspiration behind his nominee, Colin King's, own success, to the point that Colin was a finalist in the Businessman of the Year category in last year's Colchester District Business Awards. Colin King has, like Keith, been in the local glass industry since leaving school. Colin had worked with the same company for more than 20 years and resisted Keith Hockley's initial efforts to 'poach' him for his own company. But 16 years ago he asked me again, and I joined him, and since then I haven't looked back,' said Colin. Keith's entire work ethic has inspired Colin since the day he went to work with him. 'He's first in the office in the morning, and last to leave at night. He's in the workshop, behind the counter, on the phones, he has no airs and graces at all. In fact we often have a bit of fun because people deal with him in reception and have no idea that it's actually his company! 'If someone was to ask me who the most inspirational person was in my personal life, I would say my wife. But without doubt the most inspirational person in my business life is Keith.'
